Baby and Toddler Suite
Our Baby and Toddler Suite is a calm, nurturing space where our youngest children feel safe, secure, and deeply valued. Guided by the Reggio Emilia approach, we follow each child’s rhythms, interests, and cues, building strong relationships that form the foundation for confident learning. Gentle exploration is encouraged both indoors and outdoors, with time to feel the grass, watch the leaves move, and discover the world through all their senses. We embrace an old-school childhood where simple experiences—cuddles, songs, messy play, fresh air, and free movement—support natural development. In this homely, unhurried environment, babies and toddlers are given the time and care they need to grow, explore, and thrive.
Our Key Person Approach
At our nursery, every child is supported by a dedicated Key Person who plays a vital role in their early years journey. This trusted adult builds a close, secure relationship with your child, helping them feel safe, understood, and confident from the very beginning. Through daily interactions, careful observation, and meaningful communication with families, the Key Person supports each child’s individual needs, interests, and development. This consistent, nurturing relationship creates a strong sense of belonging and allows children to explore, learn, and grow with confidence in a warm and supportive environment.
Our Four Rooms
A quiet room, sensory room, construction room, and dedicated sleep room.
The Baby and Toddler Suite at Playaway is thoughtfully designed to support our youngest children as they grow, explore, and gain confidence. The suite offers three interconnected rooms that children are free to move between: a calm, quiet room for gentle play and connection, a more energetic sensory room that encourages curiosity and discovery, and a construction room where children can build, stack, and experiment with open-ended materials. Finally, a dedicated sleep room that provides a peaceful space for rest and routine.
In the sensory room, Reggio-inspired resources, infinity mirrors, and sand and water play invite children to explore at their own pace and quite literally find their feet. The quiet room offers a tranquil environment for slower-paced activities, stories, and one-to-one interactions, while the sleep room supports individual sleep patterns in a calm, comforting setting. The construction room encourages early problem-solving, coordination, and creativity through hands-on exploration.
This rich, nurturing environment supports development through carefully planned experiences that encourage:
Motor Skills – from reaching, grasping, holding, and crawling to later skills such as gripping, walking, climbing, pushing and pulling.
Sensory Skills – exploring colour, size, shape, texture, taste, and smell through hands-on experiences.
Cognitive Skills – developing early thinking through collecting, sorting, building, and simple problem-solving.
